I am British, living in USA. My yeti is my companion and trusted steed (Yeti). It will tour the world with me. It truly is amazing, I go everywhere with it. It is afraid of nothing, run around, street, 4x, free ride, downhill. Built to handle all. It got its first medal 2nd place at a surprise local 4x race, only more 2 come.

Cheers, Rama Mannur.

Big thanks to Bromley Bikes for the hook up on the frame, and ASBO for picking it up:-) Thanks dudes!!

jamessdj2jamessdj1Jims's YETI DJ (added October 07)

This is my Yeti DJ, built up for a bit of everything really! Handles most uphill's apart from the super steep, have ridden DH and 4x on it and after getting tired of my 8" inch travel DH bike, I'd say I'm just as quick now on the Yeti down the tracks.

Spec is a range, Pike 454 forks, DT Swiss 440 hubs laced to 5.1d rims (as used by the Athertons on their DH racers, so cant be bad) ideal combo of strength and lightweight. Kenda Nevegal 2.3" folding tyres, Shimano XT cranks, SRAM x.9 mech and shifter and Avid Juicy Carbon brakes. Extremely light for the build, not got it on the scales yet though.

Its part of a running test on Fat Tyre MTB (www.FTMB.net) so most questions are answered in those articles.

Cheers, Jim

Chris's DJ (added April 2007) 2007 model.

This is my '07 Yeti DJ, words can't describe how pleased I am with it!

The smaller size this year makes it awesome for jumping and freeride, it may not so great going up hill now but it kicks ass when pointed down hill! Jumping it is such a joy, it's so predictable and smooth, it just flows beautifuly. It also loves railing berms! I can almost get a knee down GP stylie!

If you're looking for the ultimate hardtail playbike then this could well be it! I've specced mine mostly with parts from the Sram/Truvativ group, including Pikes and Juicy 7's, I'll change the mech to Sram when I smash it on something. My budget is a bit limited but I'm chuffed with the build as it is. Now to start saving for an ASX.....

Tom's 2007 DJ

I hope you can include some pics of my new DJ on Yetifan .com. I don't see another '07 model in the site. It's a warrenty replacement from my old on. As you can see, I can't shy away from the garish coloured tyres.

These are superb. Note the XT Thumb Shifters and reverse pull XTR mech with purple bolts. From last year, geometry has changed and the length of the seattube is 2" shorter!!! No XC anymore then. Again, a reasonably budget build, but it's looking good IMO.

Thanx

Patricks DJ (added 2005)

Theme is "Patriot" from Chris King Patriot headset that it has. The King headset does look a bit small on the DJ head tube, Matt suggested a Blackspire, but Patrick really wanted the patriot. I like it too.

Theme is picked up in the chainset; Blackspire crank arms from Chain Reaction; they were on special offer. Patrick chose 170mm against my & Matt's recommendation of 165mm. His wish. Patriot coloured rings & bolts from Middleburn, slick-shift.

Frame is a large in raw (obviously) purchased through Matt. I think the frame is stunning. Now Patrick is not large so he has built the Yeti up as kind of cross-country. The idea was donor parts from the Kona Caldera custom (new only last August!). But we ended up changing far more than anticipated.

Seat post had to be changed, as the old one was the wrong size. Matt suggested Blackspire at a good price and I liked the look. Front mech needed changing, again as wrong size. Interesting detail on front mech, XT, was that a standard top swing wouldn't work. We had to get a top pull bottom swing.

Easton Monkey Lite XC carbon bars were an impulse purchase from Evans London Bridge as they were in the sale for GBP 75. The Danger Boy stem was from Freeborn (i.e. Ellsworth) in Horsham. I really like it too. Patrick likes Danger Boy and Freeborn are an (only?) importer in UK.

The black Yeti seat collar was swapped for blue Hope. Note we both have QR seat collars (I went for the Salsa in the end after that oh so useful discussion on the forum) so we can swap bikes on the trail. I wonder how many father-son Yeti "teams" there are today?

The Syncross Mental stainless steel investment cast pedals were purchased for Pink Yeti but I changed my mind. Patrick also has Egg Beaters stainless steel for the summer (but I bet he won't swap them).

The idea is to replace the hubs with blue Hope later this year. Funds don't stretch to King. [I spent my entire work bonus on the DJ. No regrets!] Fox forks are a distant dream…

Patrick has his own upgrade plans. First on his list are coloured brake lever blades from Danger Boy to continue the patriot theme. Then probably custom brake rotors with www.yetidj.net machined through to match Pink Yeti's ones (which haven't arrived yet as my Birthday isn't until the 24th.

Shane's Yeti DJ(added 2005)

This is a pic of my new DJ. (sorry, it's a large size file) I'm really pleased with it (I'm an Ellsworth convert). I'm running it single speed which is how jump bikes should be run, it's also much cheaper to build this way plus NO chain clatter. I'll replace the chain tensioner when I can get my hands on the horizontal when Yeti release them later this summer. A single rear brake should be enough to stop it pretty sharpish. The Fox fork needs to be shortened to 100mm , 130mm really is too much. it gets some goo air and lands smoothly. Andrew, many thanks for your time and effort, I think the site is really smart and really makes you feel a part of something quite special. It was actually the pics of other Yetifans bikes that got me thinking of converting to Yeti.

Kind Regards, Shane

Tom's Yeti DJ (added 2006)

After losing my Foes FXR to theives a few months ago and just selling all my Yeti DJ parts on eBay, I was left without a bike for almost three months while I scimped and saved at a very poor time in my life to be able to build my dj frame again.

With just £500, my LBS helped me no end to come together with a cheap, but great riding bike to handle most diceplines until I can build my next dream Yeti 575 or ASX a little further down the road. Spec includes budget Bomber ETA'a, Magura rim brakes, a mix of Sram X.7, SX.5 and Shimano XT, USE, X-Lite, Michelin HOT S tyres etc, to comprise a strong, light and all round good value Yeti to see me until I can buy my next Superbike.

It rides so well and feels so solid. My friends think it looks like a clowns bike with all the red, but what do they know......I have a Yeti.
