The first 2003 bike featured in Your Yeti's this is Joe's AS-R, built up with the following- Frame 2003 Yeti AS-R Fork 2002 Manitou Mars, Shock 2002 Fox Float RL, Cranks 2003 Shimano XT, BB 2003 Shimano XT, Front Der 2003 Shimano XT, Shifters 2002 Shimano XTR, Brakes 2002 Shimano XTR V Brake, Rear Der 2002 Shimano XTR, Wheels Mavic 517 Ceramic, Hubs Shimano XTR, Pedals Shimano 959. Visit Joe's site at ~http://home.attbi.com/~jseamour/ I'm 5'2" tall, and just bought my first Yeti, thanks to the new '03 XS frame offering on the ASR. Bought the frame and my boyfriend and I built her up with full XTR, Chris King, Easton carbon components, etc. She's 23.5 lbs of pure riding enjoyment. Looking forward to racing her this season at the 2003 Winter Park Race Series. Here's a pix of my ride. I replaced the Time Attack pedals with the new crank brother's egg beaters (not the titanium, untouchable @ $250 - $300! ouch). Also not in the picture, my new light-weight WTB Rocket V Stealth seat. My tires could go on a diet, but given our winter conditions, I'll stick with those monsters until race season begins. 2004 5th Element Air Rear Shock, Pace RC-36 Forks with lockout, Hope Headset, X-Lite Angelo Stem, ARC R2 Riser bars, 2003 XT Shifters, Hope Mini's (185 Front & 165 Rear) Yeti Loc-on Grips, Hope Steel Skewers, Black Mavic X317's on Hope XC hubs with DT black spokes, XT Cassette, XT Cranks, XT BB, XT Front & Rear mech, Sella Italia Gel Flow Ti Saddle on an ARC Seatpost and lastly M424 pedals - I bought cheap pedals to use until the Crank Bros Candy SL pedals are available :) Cheers, David. Andy says it took a long time to arrive, but its well worth the wait and its 'My Pride and Joy'

At 25Lbs it is bulletproof. The perfect long ride machine. No flats and nothing breaks.
At the prompting of another Yetifan, here's my 2003ASR in Moab. Fox Talus, Crossmax SL, SRAM X.0,Margura Marta Disc, FSR Carbon Crank, and ARC Components. 24.6 lbs. I bought the frame then built the bike myself. Its the best bike I've ever ridden...
Here is my 1 week old AS-R. I hope this gets me Yeti of the month and also the first 04 on the web site I love this bike
Fitted with Marzocchi Marathons(04) Hope C2's and much more!
Here's my ASR-SL set up as as a clydesdale trailbike. New '04 tubeset and 5th E shock, with my tried and true 8spd XTR kit. The Minute is a great match for the rear shock and the whole package makes this the best thing I've ever ridden. Took a while to get, but well worth it- Gabe
This ASR is NOT a production frame it is a pre-production prototype built by Anodizing, Inc. The only real difference in it and the production bikes is that the forged knuckles on my bike are a little beefier ( read heavier) than the real bike.- Mike
2004 5th Element Air Rear Shock, Fox Float Fork 100 RL, Chris King Headset, Thomson Stem and Seatpost, Easton EC 90 SL bars, Sram Rockets Shifters, Hope M4 (185 Front & 165 Rear) Yeti Loc-on Grips, WH-M959, XTR Cassette, XTR Cranks, XTR Front & Rear mech, SDG 7000 TI Saddle, M959 pedals. Sram XO rear and shifters Sram PC99 chain ARC stem, seatpost and carbon bar, Mavic EX823 rims,Avid juicy disc brakes,Flite gel saddle, Panaracer trailblaster UST tires, Sid world cup fork, Raceface ti bottom bracket. FSA carbon pro cranks and rings, Sram cassette, Avid flak jacket shifting cables, Eggbeater triple ti pedals. Glenn Kirby , Warner, NH Hey there - here is an image of my Yeti AS-R. I noticed you don't have any there that are dirty, so here is mine. Current specs - 2001 AS-R with newer TI hardware, Sram X.0, Avid BBDB, 2001 X-Fly 100- Within the week: Cane Creek Cloud9 rear shock, Yeti ARC Seatpost and Stem.
Essentially the bike is set up for long distance riding and marathon racing. Its a 2004 ASR-SL frame with a King headset, Yeti ARC carbon bars, and ally stem and seat post. The Fizik Gobi saddle is the most comfortable I've had, it seems far forward but you actually sit quite far back on it. The Manitou Minute 2s are 100mm and match the 5th element really well. The shock and fork use the same Curnutt valve technology to prevent pedalling setting them off. This type of shock/fork naturally rides high in its travel so the bike is better balanced than having a fully active fork up front. Also the Minute is very light for 100mm; fractionally more than the Fox Float F80RLT that was on there before. It's a full XTR groupset the brakes are fantastic, they have so much feel and rarely lock up this is by far my favourite part of the groupset especially teamed up with the Goodridge hoses. The rest of this groupset has had the hell beaten out of it. I'm about to fit my third set of chain rings in 12 months, rear shifting is great. The wheels are Mavic X317s with DT Swiss comp spokes I have switched to Specialized Roll-X tyres from Continentals as the I had a lot of pinch flats and lost knobbles. Also the Roll-X s are nearly £10 cheaper each even for the SWORKS. Finally I use Time pedals for as they give 13 degrees of float so better for my knees One week old today.(10/06/04) sub 25lbs w/out pedals, Minute 2:00 100mm forks,R/face Deus 110mm stem,Monkeylite XC Hi bars with yeti loc-on's,XTpods (not keen on the dual XTR shifters) ,Hope Mono Mini's 160 rotors,Chris king headset,USE Ti S/post ,Selle SLR XP seat,XTR Chainset,XTR front and rear Mech,XT Cassette, Sram 99 chain,DMR V12 Magnesium pedals,Mavic Crossmax SL wheels with Conti Vapour 2.1 rubbers and specialized tubes. Done 3 of the rides around Coed(Wales) but still working on the best suspension set-up for my 12.5st which at the moment is: Manitou AIR-80psi SPV-50psi 5th Element AIR-65 CVT-80. A big thanks to Andy @ LeisureLakes who put this together Tash's new 2004 Small AS-R

(but unfortunally I was finished after 1,5 hour, the race was cancelled due the very, very bad weather) Built with only the best of the best there is: - Fox F100 - Mavic UST Crossmax SL (3x) - Maxxis UST tyres (3 types) - Chris King - Hayes mag/ carbon - Easton carbon - WTB Yeti saddle - Crank Bros. triple TI - Truvativ Stylo team - Sram X0 - Topeak I hope this picture is gonna be placed on the site! I picked up my brand new yeti yesterday morning and wanted to show it off on your site. Its an ASR SL with Fox Float RLC forks, Race Face Deus XC Cranks, XT gears, Thompson Seat post and Stem, Chris King head set (Of Course), Hayes Discs and a rather Nice set of Hope on Mavic 317 rims. Here's my just built '04 ASR-SL...what a machine! 2004 Large Yeti ASR-SL, Fox TALAS R, SRAM X7 Transmission, Avid Mech Disc Brakes, Salsa Ti Bar, XT Cranks, Mavic Wheels Pics soon of my Drop Bar '03 ARC! :-O (as soon as I figure out the right brakes for it!) Thanks again for a GREAT website! Tom Heres a jpeg of my new ride completed in July 04 and then taken on a three week adventure to Utah and Colorado in August for a thrashing on some of the best single track around. the total build is 23.8lbs so its not much off the weight of my ARC that hanging dispondantly in the garage. The build is
My partner gill ordered a new bike to replace her FRO and we got it shipped from Wheatridge cyclery colorado to our first stop in Park city utah, fantastic riding there by the way. The ASR is awsome ,totally rocked out on the trails, and attracted major interest, anyway home in N.Ireland now, bikes now back in the garage awaiting the next adventure. Stay fast - Mark_b Steves 2005 AS-R Medium 2005 "If you go down to the woods today, your sure of a big surprise! Better known for it Dragon, last seen in the 6th Century, St. Leonard's Forest was today graced by the presence of another legendary creature: A Yeti. Our intrepid reporter managed to catch this Yeti whilst it stopped to take in the view. Or maybe it just needed a rest after climbing up the hill. Now some would say that the markings of this Yeti, predominately pink with a touch of carbon to the rear flanks, would indicate this was a young female Yeti. Whatever the truth, this is one Yeti which is sure to keep the tongues wagging during those cold dark and wet English winters." Steve Yeti ASR sl Large, Rock Shox REBA Team U turn poploc, Chris King Headset, Hope mono minis, pair of Hope XC's on Mavic 517's, XT Chainset, front and rear meach, cassette and shifters, Thompson Seat post, Selle Italia Genuine Gel, ARC Carbon riser bars, All very happy with it and it rides like a dream Mark
Here it is. Shanman's ASR-SL. It came with the new '05 "enduro kit. Although I think the Minion "downhill specific" tires were a bit much they will be great when the snow starts falling here in Michigan. I love the look of the Rocket V Yeti saddle, but my ass isn't use to it just yet. The best part of the '05 package is the Fox RP3 shock- three easy to switch to settings: hardtail, damn near hardtail and plush! It's great! The thing pedals like a hard tail until you hit a bump. It's not a lockout; it's just great damping! Do I love it? After shaving off 30 minutes off my time at the Iceman on just my third ride on the bike what do you think! Yours in the Tribe, Shanman G'day from Australia, My new '04 AS-r Sl. Words can't describe, but as one my my mates said: "The seat is like 2 little angles holding your ass as you rip through the forest. The ultimate in sweet ride combined with the coolness of not riding a mainstream C dale /Trek / Spec etc. The Yeti is turning heads down here!". Couldn't say it better than that, so here it is. Full XTR, Fox f100x, Chris King, Stan's NoTubes on Mavic 717s, Eggbeaters, Easton CT2 bars, Bel-Air, Oury Lock-ons. My bike, built the way I want it. This one's a keeper!! Sometimes you just know when you've done the right thing! My ASR does what is says on the tin! Many thanks to the guys at Bromley bikes, Jay
Black Small Frame , Full XT, Fox Forks, Mavic XC717, Panaracer 1.9 Tyres, Yeti ARC stem / seatpost , Yeti ARC Carbon Bar, SRAM Rocket Gripshit (AWESOME!!), ONZA H.O. Pedals (Yes really! still work brillantly) , WTB Rocket V saddle, This bike is just awesome, aftersome initial problems getting the 5th element set up correctly ( I like a very firm ride ) the problem was down to a faulty pump, the ride quality is amazing. Niggles : NONE 5 stars Since this picture I have been riding several times and the bike seems to be just like I wanted it to be : comfortable, lightweight (around 11 Kg), easy to drive, rare and pretty 8-) I still need more rides to have a real opinion of this bike, but it already rocks !!! about my bike :
"After 6 months looking for the perfect FS XC bike, I finally chose the Yeti ASR-SL ... I still needed to wait 2 months to have all the components but I finally did it ! I am really proud of my bike : it rocks and looks so good to me !" Lightweight (around 11,0 kg), the bike is easy to ride, efficient and comfortable. I still need to ride more with it but I am already a new YETI Fan !!!!!" I hope I will be able to see it soon on your cool website ! Thanks by advance . GO RIDING !! At last I'm finish with my ASR-SL project. Here's the build:
It's been a great ride! I have always wanted a Yeti… Now my dream is fulfilled… Thanks for all the great advices from the members of Yetifan. Gary (Singapore) Well I could not let leave well enough alone! Attached are pics of my Latest Yeti Project. I started out with a 2003 AS-R SL Frameset then the fun began. My list includes: Chris King Headset, Race Face Deus Crankset, Fox 100X Tetralogic Forks, Beebop Pedals, XTR Front & Rear Derailleurs, XTR Shifters (9-Speed), XTR Ti Freewheel 11-34, Avid SD Ti Brakes, Thomson Seatpost and Stem, Easton Monkeylite SL Low Rise Bars , Spinergy SPOX Wheelset, SRAM Hollow Pin Chain, Selle Italia Flight Ti Seat, Panaracer Fire XC Pro Kevlar Tires, Yeti Grips, Cateye Enduro 8 Computer, Mavic Skewers, and to top it off a Yeti Headset Cap. This new stead is added to my quiver of a 1996 ARC and my beloved 2001 AS-R. I have one ride on the new AS-R and it is fantastic! Total weight is right on 25 Lbs. I gave up some weight savings with the new Fox Forks but it was worth it. Now here is the Kicker! I bought every part on E-Bay! My total cost was $2,600. Full retail would be around $5,600! Most all of the parts are brand new. The frame had one season on it and the brakeset needed new pads but other than that everything was in new or near new shape. I just want to add that I really enjoy your site! Brad XTR King / 819 wheels
Here she is. After 7months of waiting I finally managed to get her on the trails. The build is light and the final weight est is around 24lbs. I have yet to get her on the scales to find the official verdict. Added is a silver metalic stay protector that YETI have punched so that you can see the Carbon underneath. As of the time of writing an est 2 to 3 Carbon bikes are in the UK. With my build this is one 100% unique and rare bird.

I gave birth to a new 25lbs 2005 ASR-SL. I gave up the Blur- blah blah and found a Yeti. See picture. I have always been a fan ever since the first Fro I built for a customer 15 yrs ago. It took me this long to come out of the closet, I have been through GT Xisang, Trek STP, Trek Fuel and finally the Blur. Blur was a sweet ride but not as sweet as my YETI. Tyler After 15yrs of waiting I finally got my very own 2005 ASR-SL (Big thank's to every one at Bromley Bike) and you've guessed it the colour TURQUOISE. SPECS: Fox Float 130 RLC, Fox RP3 rear shock, Chris king Headset, Thomson stem and seatpost, Hayes HFX-9 XC, Sram X-9 shifters, Shimano XT front/rear derailleur, Sram PG990 9 speed cassette, WTB Yeti Team saddle, Mavic XC717D black rims with Hope XC Hub's front/rear, Maxxis Dynamite tyres, Hope Ti Quick release, Easton EC70 carbon bars. Thanx's Simon Aldham
Thanks to the guys at Bromley Bikes, excellent bike, excellent built and very fast service, the bike is awesome!!!!!!!!!! A friend of mine (former owner of an ASR-SL and current owner of an 575) convinced me to swap my Intense 5.5 for a Yeti... I
was pretty much reluctant to do so as my Intense worked really nicely. This one became my choice, and I actually wonder how
come it took me so long to decide. I shouldn't have... it's so great ! And light (11,560 g including pedals). As you can see the
equipment is mainly based on an oldy but goody XTR base, including pedals, Fox RP3 + Fox 100RL + RaceFace stem + Thomson post
+ SLR XC saddle. Headset is in the hands of the King Chris and tires are left to Hutchinson. Riding is superb, handling and traction are great. So what I can ask for more ? Best regards, Xavier from France Hi Yetifan, this is the first sighting of my newly built Asr. So far so Great ! Cheers Dan.
I got my new 2006 Yeti (w/ '05 paint job) a week ago last Tuesday. The temperature has been below 40 and it has snowed every day since then. I'm planning my first sick day for the first 50+ degree day we get! I got pretty much the stock Race Kit except I replaced the Hayes with the Avid Juicy Sevens, threw on a larger tire (2.35) up front, and tossed in some Shimano 540 pedals for good measure. It weights in at 27lbs but is indestructible! Excuse the garage photo but bad weather is fighting me again. I bought it from the Sport Garage in Boulder (awesome bunch of guys up there!!!) after doing overnight demo's of five bikes (ASR-SL!, Truth, Blur XC, ETSX-70, RacerX). This thing literally blew away the competition. On the major downhill on the demo I smoked some guy on his downhill specific Specialized FSR because this bike just hooks up so amazing well and swallows all the bumps so you can just ride! Climbs better than my old hard tail as well! If anyone is really interested (or bored) and wants to know more about my demos and decision criteria (and more photos!), they can check out my blog ("Guitar & Pen") at ~http://home.comcast.net/~john.bullock. They can also find info. on the naming contest for the new (ideas are welcome!) and a small prize will be given if I pick their suggestion or use one that leads to my decision).
This is a picture of my 2006 Yeti ASR-sl. Not sure, but it could be the only one of this colour in the UK as I had to special order it via the importers. Thought you would enjoy some shots of my new ASR-SL. The bike was ready 3/1, but I had the shop swap out the tires and seat, which took a couple extra days, and it looks like I missed another Yeti of the Month by a few days! Oh well. Keep up the fantastic work with the site, it is great. 2006 Yeti ASR-SL Team Race disc kit upgraded with Chris King headset and Mavic Crossmax SL center-lock wheels and Shimano rotors. Jason

I recently picked up a one-off frame and heard a unique story about it. It was made for a brother of someone at Yeti. It has a unique frame number, check it out! Some of the tubes are Scandium, and the shock is an RP3. the frame has hose guides, and a bearing swing arm. Jesse. finally took some pics of the asr! check out the clever spacer to hold the cables either side of the rp3 - courtesy of a genius mechanic from Royle's in Wilmslow... cheers, Marcus |
