2005- a new Year for Yeti of the Month. Thanks to Matt This is one of my all time favourite Yeti's, I have no idea why its taken 2 years to get it here. This month takes a trip back , John Parker is selling his entire Yeti Collection, there are some rare and unique bikes, all are put on eBay, and are made available all over the world. Here is the Curly speed Lawwill, The Carolyn Curl's Yeti Lawwill downhill world speed record bike. This bike is complete with the studded tires an humongous paragon machine works chain ring. Also included is the custom high speed wind tunnel helmet she wore. Curly went something like 121 (98 is what it really did) miles per hour in France with this bike. However, a couple of days later with better weather another women competitor broke Curly's record. Nice Bike See more pics at - John Parkers Collection page
Here's my 1992 Ultimate, restored to a period correct build. Accutrax fork, Atac stem, 7 spd XT all around with thumbies, Cook Bros cranks, Ringle front hub, Mavic M231 rims. Photographed on a trail in Southern California that starts less than two miles from my house. Gabe
I just became a member of the Tribe today. I purchased a 575 from Wheatridge Cyclery. It is going to have a race kit with a few extra's... Oh yeah, and it is in the team colors! That's right! When I saw it, I had to have it. One of only two that the shop had received. It had been on the showroom floor for 30 minutes! The boys at Wheatridge explained that there has been such a demand, Yeti finally caved and painted an extremely limited number of 575's in this year's team colors 575 Team with a Fox Float 130 RLC, Chris King Headset, Shimano XT/XTR drivetrain, Mavic Crossmax XL wheelset, Hayes HFX-9 XC Carbon brakes, ARC R1 SL carbon bars, Thompson stem/post, Eggbeater SL pedals, and a Selle Italia SLK seat. As it sit's, it is 27.7 lbs, and that includes the pedals and cage! A big THANK YOU to David at Wheat Ridge Cyclery for helping build up this sick ride!! I took it out for a spin yesterday and it was a show stopper! 4 different people gave me compliments on it. I am keeping it under lock and key. It will be interesting to see what kind of feedback this generates from the rest of the tribe. I talked to a guy at the shop and he thought that it was wrong for Yeti to do the 575 in this color, since it is not made in the Golden, factory. I think it is just awesome, Regardless............. Jason April 2005 Greg ( Mr Plow in the forum) sent in this bike.
After Jared got his 303 the other day (awesome bike) I got this from him... Specs.
Spares:
Thanks to Jared for such a great bike, so well looked after! Yeti of the Month June 05 Marks AS-X
I finally broke the bank and got myself a full suspension. the frame was a season old, owned by the owner of one of the local shops here in Newfoundland Canada, Freeride Mountain Sports. Chris the owner, had his house broken into and the bike stolen. Recovered after several weeks of being on the missing list, the bike had been spray bombed and was stripped down of all its paint. End of the season came and he sold it to me for a great bargin. He painted it for me, black, which pealed off in strips in the first ride. I took the time to strip it down my-self and buff it to a shine, but that just wouldn't do, it needed paint. I took the bike to a local body shop and had it painted, a real nice (at least I think so...several people have picked at me about my choice!) pearl shade of purple. I like it because its so different. I had diecuts made of the original graphis, and had them applied (in hind sight i should have applied them under the clear coat) . Meanwhile, I had my shock sent back for a rebuild, and the fork sent off to have the camo lowers installed (which have a purpley tint). Once everything came back I was ready to go, or so i thought. Lastly I have found a leak in my hope mono m4's and am still waiting for the caliper to be replaced, meanwhile I have rigged up a set of Hayes Mags in their place...probably a perminant switch. At last the bike is finished! I love it! Its taken me about a year to get it right, its totally a labour of love. Yeti of the month July - Justins AS-X
Had to include a pic w/ the Ska Brewing sticker as a tribute to Durango.
Details: The best all-mountain bike that Yeti has made. Agile enough to pedal up the single track - solid enough to blitz the the dh runs. I have also include a couple of pics from a trip to MOAB last year. (Photos taken by my buddy Chuck - he has his 2001 AS-X posted on Yetifan) Thanks Justin
Stuarts AS-X I pimped up my AS-X with a freeride set-up, I took it for its first uplift session at Les Gets, France. What a difference a bike makes!!!!! Fox DHX 5.0 rear shock, CaneCreek DX, FSA DH400 stem & bars, Hayes HFX brakes, Mavic Deemax wheels with axle conversion for a Shimano Saint rear mech with short hanger, Shimano Hone front mech, RaceFace Diablous crank, E13 bashring and chain guide, 24-7 Slacker pedals with integrated bottle opener!!!!! Stuart England UK Slightly differnt YOM this month, usually the good Yeti people of the world send in their bikes, but there's been a shortage just now, so after seeing the quality and beauty of Jared's 303 at the Fort William world cup, I thought it would be a sweet set of wheels to have on here. It would have been cool to hear what Jared has to say about his bike, but I guess he must like it!
The frame came with a FOX pull shock (which is currently being rebuilt and having a new Trunion mount machined ) The frame was full black when I got it, I had it powder to match my Dorado in Blue/Black. I just recently built up the HED wheels for Mammoth. The frame is running a DKG linkage ( the actual DKG, it's machined in the linkage and is shorter thus less progressive ). The bike is running a Ringle front hub with the dreaded Edco rear, SRAM XO rear mech, Truvative cranks, MRP ect. The frame has a head tube gusset added on which also supports the Team bike info. Thanks, Chris Yeti of the Month December 2005 Davids Yeti ARC - Life after Shimano. While I still depend on Shimano components on my other 2 Yetis, I thought it would be fun to put together a light weight hardtail for the upcoming cross country race season that did not have a single Shimano component. The result was a sub-22 lb. screamer ready for 2006. FULL BUILD SPECS
