a couple of images of my just-built Big Top 29R. Everything – with the exception of the wheels and saddle – were bought at discount from various places on the internet (biggest savings: About £350 off those Fox F29 FIT RLC forks and over £200 off the XTR chainset). Amazingly, it all went together pretty easily, except I crushed the tapered ring in the top assembly of the headset when I pressed it into the frame. Thanks to Hope for sending out a replacement very quickly.
Given that I was juggling price and performance against every part selection, I was really (pleasantly) surprised with a weight of under 25lbs (with pedals).
A note about the wheels. They were a good deal cheaper than pretty much any factory wheels that get anywhere near their 1624g weight. Stan's Arch EX of American Classic hubs built by the supremely helpful/skilled guys at Just Riding Along.

Thought I would send in some pics of my Bigtop - built last December ridden regularly ever since - currently in rigid road spec...!
I intended to build up an On-one Scandal 29er, somehow I was distracted and ended up with this..... spec pretty std except currently its fully rigid
I supplied parts, but was built up by Primera in Bournemouth, with full bike fit - great service. I thought about building it myself but quickly backed away from the idea since i didn't have enough tools or time.
Weight a little under 9.9kgs on paper
Just bought some bouncy forks - 2013 Rockshox Reba RLT with 15mm maxle obviously black...
Performance rigid is great - goes like the proverbial .... off a shovel. It has been a revelation up hill and just rolls and rolls on the flat.
hope you like it, I do ;o)
I'm proud to send the photos of my Big Top.
As you suggested - a mugshot of my new BigTop. (My Precious with gold ring and all...hahaha)
I'd like to do some prettier shots when I have the time..and then of course my challenge of getting them into the forum page.
I have a few shots in my Facebook gallery if you want to try use those. I couldn't get them to transfer.
All the best to you
