I noticed you only had one Road Project in Your Yeti's so here's a picture of my new Orange Road Project. Got direct form Yeti a few weeks ago to add to my collection. All Dura Ace with a Paul's Front derailluer, Ultimate Ti seatpost and a sweet Alpha Q carbon fork. Weight is 16.5 lbs. The ride is unique. I have a carbon ONCE frame and a Merlin Extralight. The Yeti really skips over rough road sections and climbs super well. Rides much better than I expected!
The Road Project section needs a little more flavor so here's my '96 R.P. I bought it direct from Yeti and have been riding it fairly regularly ever since. Original 8spd Ultegra (yep, it still works) with Mavic hubs and rims. You need to ride road every once in a while, and I'm Yeti loyal!! Will post my '92 ProFro when I get around to taking the pic. Finally got round to getting you a photo of my Road Project I got off Scott at Yeti. Its pretty sweet with a one off paint job done by Spectrum, it red in this pic but changes with the light from gold through green and back to red, its awesome! Its specced with Campag record and Chrous stuff and Mavic wheels, I'm going to get a Chris King headset on when they arrive. I've not had time to ride it yet, too nice to get covered in road grime! ,Cheers Col.
My Yellow/Black Road Project is the Last bike that was powdercoated and painted in Durango before they tore the ovens and paint booths down after Schwinn/Questor bought them and moved the offices to Boulder. The frame was originally ordered from Yeti raw and we had it polished for one of my customers when I owned a shop. The customer rode it once or twice and lost interest.... very strange dude to say the least as he did the same thing with 5 different bikes. I wound up buying the bike back from him (The other Road Project was my original)and rode it for about a year. Unfortunately, it was a pain to keep looking good, tarnished REALLY badly, so I sent it back to have it painted. The frame was powdercoated and baked then they applied the graphics. After that it got 12 coats of hand sanded clearcoat!! Pictures don't do the paint justice. It is built up with blue anodized Campy Record brakes and driveline, Grafton cranks and Hi-E hubs, it weighs about 17.5 lbs. My other Road Project was one of the first ten that they built. It is Clear powder coated with a purple dart. The clear is really cool because you get an almost metal flake look with the bead blasted finish on the frame, it is a smaller size and has a lighter wheelset than the yellow bike 16.25 lbs.
My cycling coach (Medically Based Fitness, Boulder, CO) broke my heart when he insisted I acquire a road bike to improve my cross country racing endurance and overall fitness during the fall, winter and spring months . Being a loyal Yeti mountain bike fan, I resisted the impulse to drop mega bucks for a Postal Service look-a-like and shave my legs. A trip to E-bay and a for searching for Road Projects quickly ended my torture. The first one served up was a beautiful cream and clear coated 2002 Dura Aced road ride with a familiar sounding e-mail address. The color scheme, size and component level matched my 2002 ASR exactly! A call to Seth (Bubba) at Yeti confirmed that the ride had been built by former Yeti factory sales guru Scott Damman and was still for sale. Scott and I quickly made the deal in a Boulder coffee shop. I have since been spinning the Road Project on every sunny Colorado winter day and in front of the fireplace recovering from January knee surgery. The decision of what to ride has again become black and white. If I could only talk Cris into producing me a Cream and clearcoat cyclocross bike with black decals. Road Project Specs : One of the last Vega welded Road Projects in 2002. 2001/2002 56” frame bought from Ruby Canyon Cycles in the US, full 2004 Ultegra groupset (double crankset), Campag Zonda wheels, Kestral Carbon forks, Chris King headset, nice carbon bars with lots of nice design features made by some Spanish company I can’t recall :) Moots Ti seatpost, Sella Italia Ti-Flite saddle, Crank Brothers Candy SL pedals off my ASR-SL – soon to be replaced by Crank Brothers Quattro’s. Rides beautifully and always gets admiring glance’s and nice comments, how it stacks up against other road bikes I don’t know since this is the first road bike I’ve ever ridden – but it sure racks up the miles quickly and positively flies up hills :) David (photek)

The Road Project Frame was bought in 94 or 95 just when they started the Road Bike.It has a low 100Nr and is till today still in the box like when I bought it.There were too many other projects since I bought it.
Here, finally, are some pictures of my 99 Road Project frame. Got it from an ex racer for Yeti living in Colorado in 2000. Cant seem to find the S/N. Its had a real mix of parts, mostly different colors for a long time. It now takes on the black/yellow scheme which hopefully will stay. She has been ridden many miles in the Northern California hills. I have never seen another RP in the Bay Area, ever. Parts rundown? Campy Chorus 10sp shifters, rear der, 12-25 cassette. Record rear hub, c-rings. Daytona crankset, front der, brakes. Phil Wood mag/titanium BB, front hub. Mavic open pro rims, Wheelsmith 14/15. Dura-ace pedals. Time CAT carbon fork. Cane Creek S-5 headset. Thompson post. Cinelli stem, tape and bars. Dougl-ass saddle. Currently Kenda Koncept 23 tires. p.s Its not for sale, ever. when it breaks, its going on the wall with my Spooky and Ventana.
I bought her used a few years ago and have seen many enjoyable miles. It is a full dura ace grouppo with a carbon fork. Thanks again Yeti Tribe

Here are a few pics of my Ti Road Project. I live in Two Harbors, MN and picked this frame up used a few months ago from Dave Haase (2x 4th place finisher of RAAM) in Fond du Lac, WI. I built it up over the winter with SRAM Force and Rolf wheels. So new to me that it has only seen rollers!!!

The Road Project is my friend Bill's, also from Indiana, USA. This is his daily driver. It's a really neat bike. It's built up with some Dura-Ace 7700/7800 stuff, and some Ultegra 6500 stuff. It has a Deda Synapsi full carbon integrated bar and stem. Old school parts like Syncros Hardcore Ti post, White Industries hubs, etc. It's pretty light for what it is. The only real problem with it is that the tubing is so thin that the frame dents really really easily, and the ride is pretty harsh. All that aside it's pretty awesome.
I bought my Road Project used in July 2007. I haven’t changed much on it but I have had the pleasure of riding it over 6000 miles (9600 km) on it in the last 14 months. I e-mailed the factory and found out that the bike was made in 2002. Frame size is 58 cm.
Equipment:
The Yeti is stiff and climbs very well. With a 34-27 low gear I can get up any hill. The bike is very stable in high speed mountain descents. The relatively short wheelbase and torsional stiffness make the bike handle especially well in steep, technical descents. Riding on the smooth roads in the Sierra Nevada Mountains is pure pleasure on this bike. However, the extreme stiffness can be a bit of a detriment in rural coastal California , where the roads are often choppy. All-in-all I am very happy with this bike and expect its stout construction to allow it to last for many years and tens of thousands of miles. Keith Howell Santa Rose, CA USA
